VistaPrint Limited and FedEx Office (formerly FedEx Kinko's) have teamed up in a multi-year strategic alliance that has VistaPrint providing business stationery and marketing materials for FedEx Office's customers. In addition, FedEx will be a primary express carrier for VistaPrint's orders coming from its production facility in Windsor, Ontario, to locations in North America.
 

Scripps Networks debuts social site Food2

Scripps Networks, the owner of the Food Network, has launched a new food-focused social media site called Food2. Scripps already owns the Web sites FoodNetwork.com and Recipezaar.com, but Food2.com adds social networking around food to the portfolio.

AOL's Platform-A president Greg Coleman is leaving AOL after only a couple of months in the position, as part of big changes at AOL since Tim Armstrong replaced Randy Falco as chairman/CEO less than a month ago. Coleman's dismissal comes after Time Warner reported a 7% decline in revenues in the first quarter of 2009, which it attributed largely to decreases at the AOL publishing and filmed entertainment segments, offset partially by an increase at the networks segment.
 

Postal service inspector general seeking data on sick time views

Citing $1.4 billion spent last year on sick leave, the US Postal Service Office of Inspector General (OIG) is soliciting comments on what it can do to reduce the number of unscheduled absences among postal employees. The OIG has posted a survey on its blog site, which queries attitudes toward sick time and how it is used, with statements such as "I work hard and sometimes I need to call in sick to take a rest day."

UPS adds to international golf sponsorship role

All three functions will be applied to CDC's Pivotal CRM system.

Consumer lists lead drop in average CPM

Almost all major list categories, particularly consumer lists, have continued their steady drop in rental prices, according to Worldata's Spring 2009 List Price Index. The index is released quarterly and is based on cost per thousand (CPM) for lists. Consumer list rental prices have dropped the most since this time last year, falling $29/M, or 19.33%, but consumer magazines were not far behind, falling $7/M, or 6.54%, since last spring.

Alliance Q1 income falls 44%, despite growth in some divisions

Alliance Data Systems Corp., parent company to Epsilon and LoyaltyOne, reported results for its first quarter, ended March 31, showing that first-quarter net income has decreased nearly 44% since Q1 last year. Revenue for the company dropped 4%, to $480 million, while cash earnings per diluted share were up slightly — from $1 to $1.19.

IAC announces Urbanspoon purchase, Q1 results

Along with its first quarter financial results, IAC today announced the acquisition of Urbanspoon, a Web-based local Internet guide. The Internet company reported revenue of $332 million in Q1 2009, a drop of 10% from the same period in 2009. However, it is confident in the growth potential of its search, personals and local businesses — the latter of which was bolstered by the Urbanspoon acquisition.

Print-only catalogs losing ground

The number of catalogs available in print-only formats decreased from 1,574 to 1,374 over last year, according to the 2009 National Directory of Catalogs. Continuing a trend from the past several years, however, the number of print catalogs with online editions grew from 8,675 to 8,894 from last year. Catalogs available in online-only formats totaled 2,011, up from 1,868 last year.
 

Unum Group sees increase in e-mail, using landing pages
