MasterCard Worldwide on January 12 announced it has launched Advisors Merchant Solutions, a data analytics and marketing service for clients. The credit card issuer said the service will help companies understand spending activity, evaluate performance compared with competitors and focus direct marketing campaigns to target the most precise segments and prospects.
 

Aflac debuts 'You don't know quack' campaign

Insurance giant Aflac has launched a campaign with Internet marketing, social media and out-of-home advertising components, even as it searches for a new ad agency. The effort, called "You don't know quack," launched January 11. Its goal is to expand brand awareness to educate consumers about the type of insurance that Aflac provides.
 

PRC report values one-day-per-week Postal Service delivery cut in billions

If it had implemented a five-day-per-week delivery schedule years ago, the US Postal Service would have saved more than $2 billion during the its 2008 fiscal year. For the 2007 fiscal year, the cut in service would have saved the organization more than $1.9 billion, according to the Postal Regulatory Commission's annual report for fiscal year 2009.

Wishbone will retain its name and management team, and will be integrated into Rosetta's overall healthcare business as a separate professionally focused group. UPS to cut 1,800 jobs by April

UPS disclosed on January 8 that it will cut about 1,800 management and administrative positions in an effort to streamline its US management structure. The shipper also announced that it will reduce the number of districts and regions in its domestic small package operation.

The creative calls consumers to interact with the gnome by voting on his three winter trips on Travelocity social networking pages, and to share photos of themselves on their own winter trips. The campaign incorporates social media, search, display, e-mail and TV.
 

Nonprofit Tamika and Friends launches pledge campaign to fight cervical cancer

Tamika and Friends, a nonprofit that raises awareness of cervical cancer and its link to the human papilomavirus (HPV), is managing an integrated campaign urging women to take a pledge to get screened for the disease. Experian announced January 7 that it has purchased an 88.5% stake of A-Care Systems, an e-mail service provider based in Japan. The newly acquired company will be part of the Experian CheetahMail unit, though Experian did not say in a statement whether it will rebrand the company.
 

Zimmerman gets George Foreman business

Applica Consumer Products named Zimmerman Advertising its agency of record for the George Foreman line of appliances on January 7.
