Goodmail and Epostmarks to debut USPS postmarked e-mail

Goodmail Systems and Epostmarks have introduced "Postmarked Email," a platform that places US Postal Service Electronic Postmarks on Web messages via Goodmail's CertifiedEmail platform. The platform's goal is to further secure e-mails so that messages that typically rely on the security of the mail, such as transactional statements from banks or credit card information, can now be sent via e-mail.
 

UPS announces average rate increases of 4.9% for 2010

UPS announced November 20 that its 2010 shipping rates will increase by an average of 4.9% for UPS Ground packages, and will see an average net increase of 4.9% for air express and US origin international shipments. The rates will go into effect January 4, 2010.
 

Google to acquire Teracent

Google, in the midst of a buying spree, has acquired display ad network company Teracent. Terms of the deal, announced November 23, were not disclosed. The search giant announced the acquisition of Gizmo5, a company that makes software for Internet-based calling on mobile phones and computers, and the buy of mobile display ad network AdMob this month.
 

Mail volumes begin their rebound, says Mintel

Direct marketing analyst Mintel Comperemedia disclosed last week that 180 million credit card offers were sent to consumers last month, according to its research. That number is the highest monthly total tracked since last December and the first significant rise in mail volume all year, according to the company.

Donnelley Marketing, a division of InfoGroup, announced on November 23 it has named Jean Moseley VP of solution delivery. A 14-year veteran of the company, she is mandated with ensuring the company's technology and capabilities are consistent with clients' needs and customer behavior. Less than a week after the US Postal Service disclosed that it incurred a $3.8 billion net loss for fiscal year 2009, it narrowed the list of branches it is considering closing by 130. The agency is still reviewing the possible closure of 241 post offices as of November 20.

Bass Pro Shops hires Transaction Wireless for mobile gift card program

Visitors spend nearly twice as much time, an average of 60 seconds, hovering over rich media ads with video than rich media ads without video — which get an average of 30 seconds — according to a recent study conducted by Eyeblaster. The online advertising company analyzed more than 100 billion impressions from about 30,000 campaigns worldwide between the fourth quarter of 2008 through the third quarter of this year.
 

Home Skinovations launches national DRTV, Web initiative
