The PRC approves the USPS summer sale

The Postal Regulatory Commission today unanimously approved the US Postal Service's proposal to implement a "summer sale" or Standard Mail Volume Incentive Pricing Program. The seasonal rates are scheduled to take effect on July 1. The program is open to larger mailers, which had a demonstrable volume of at least 1 million Standard Mail letters and flats between October 1, 2007 and March 31, 2008, according the PRC's press release. Eligible mailers will receive a 30% rebate at the conclusion of the sale period.
 

Sears settles with FTC over Web-tracking software

The Federal Trade Commission is reporting a settlement with Sears Holdings Management Corp. over charges the retailer failed to adequately disclose the scope of consumers' personal information it collected via a downloadable software application. According to the FTC's complaint, Sears invited certain consumers visiting the Sears.com and Kmart.com Web sites to become members of the "My SHC Community" and paid them $10 to participate in on-going interactions with the retailer.
 

Flagstar Bank enhances loyalty program

Flagstar Bank has started running a new points-based loyalty program with help from Kobie Marketing. Flagstar Rewards replaces a less flexible loyalty program the bank had in place before and runs on Kobie's Alchemy rewards platform.
 

SchoolMessenger partners with Message Systems for e-mail delivery

SchoolMessenger, a digital message delivery platform for schools, has selected e-mail services firm Message Systems for e-mail delivery services.
 

New gift-buyer file on the market

Millard Group Inc. announced a new buyer file of 79,000 names. Personalized product retailer Future Memories has made its buyers names available for purchase. The company offers products ranging from baby and children's toys to consumer electronics to executive gifts and sports gifts. It's regular buyers often make purchases to mark special occasions such as graduations, birthdays and weddings.
