Experian buys Japanese ESP A-Care Systems

Experian announced January 7 that it has purchased an 88.5% stake of A-Care Systems, an e-mail service provider based in Japan. The newly acquired company will be part of the Experian CheetahMail unit, though Experian did not say in a statement whether it will rebrand the company.
 

Zimmerman gets George Foreman business

Applica Consumer Products named Zimmerman Advertising its agency of record for the George Foreman line of appliances on January 7. Zimmerman, owned by Omnicom Group, was selected after a review of 10 agencies, including Ogilvy, Mullen, JWT, Young & Rubicam and DDB, for the heavily direct response-oriented work.
 

Lee hires Barkley, consolidates e-commerce with PR, cause marketing

Lee Jeans has awarded its e-commerce business to independent agency Barkley, which also manages Merriam, KS-based Lee's PR and cause marketing. Barkley will handle online media buying, e-mail marketing and Lee's social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and blogs.

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service launched an integrated "Big Check" campaign this week to promote its partnership with Walmart. The tax preparation service is using direct mail, banners, TV, radio, in-store, out-of-home and print advertisements to tout its tax-prep kiosks in 1,800 US Walmart stores.

Users can visit Facebook.com/CelestialSeasonings to take a quiz called "PossibiliTEAS." Celestial Seasonings will donate $1 to Conservation International's "Protect an Acre" program— up to a limit of $50,000 — for each user who takes the quiz.
