The Ford Motor Company is taking a new approach to social media marketing and tapping young trendsetters to help spread the word about the new European Ford Fiesta. The campaign is part of a partnership between Ford, digital think tank Undercurrent and AMG, a Colorado-based partner of Undercurrrent.
 

Macy's refuses to hand over customer data

With a trial set to start next month, Macy's remains locked in battle with the Los Angeles District Attorney's office over the privacy of its customer data. The department store chain was originally targeted by the office on a false advertising charge of selling children's jewelry containing heavy amounts of lead under a "lead nickel free" banner.
 

Forbes targets women with new mag, Web site

Forbes has revamped its ForbesLife Executive Woman brand, renaming the magazine ForbesWoman and beefing up its digital components. The magazine is a quarterly, and the first issue will appear May 11, with two more issues coming out in 2009.
 

Quebecor World expects to emerge from creditor protection by mid-July

After reaching an agreement in principle on the key terms that will allow it to successfully emerge from creditor protection, Quebecor World Inc. said it expects to file a reorganization plan in Canada and the US by the end of April and emerge from creditor protection by mid-July.
 

Ask.com now scoring ad clicks through third party

Ask.com will now score all of its paid search clicks using Anchor Intelligence's ClearMark software. This is the first time Anchor has partnered with a major search engine. The move is part of an effort to keep Ask's advertisers from paying for fraudulent clicks.
 

Valpak franchises opening up

Direct mail advertiser Valpak said it would be refranchising at least 15 of its company-run operations over the next two years. The initial focus will be on refranchising the New York City and Houston markets, with Minneapolis, Tampa Bay, Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles to follow.
 

Ritz-Carlton launches wedding publication

Luxury hotel company Ritz-Carlton has tapped longtime custom publishing partner McMurry to produce a biannual weddings magazine. Weddings by The Ritz-Carlton will launch in June with a distribution of 90,000. The custom-published glossy, carrying a 50/50 mix of editorial and high-end advertisements, will be placed in Ritz-Carlton rooms and given to brides and grooms who inquire about having their nuptials at the hotel.
 

LivingSocial acquires BuyYourFriendaDrink.com

LivingSocial.com, a social network where users can review, share and organize their favorite places, products and entertainment vehicles, has acquired BuyYourFriendaDrink.com (BYFAD), an e-commerce site that allows users to buy gift certificates for friends towards any of the bars in the BYFAD network.
