Custom e-mail newsletter agency Davemail, a division of Fiore Communications, has partnered with e-mail marketing firm GraphicMail to become a reseller of GraphicMail's newsletter services.
 

Yahoo debuts new versions of mail, messenger and search products

Yahoo announced on August 24 it has updated its Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Messenger products, and it is testing a new search results page. The new search results page is designed to be consistent with the Yahoo homepage design and also features so-called intelligent search results that take prior searches into account when delivering results.
 

MySpace taps Wenda Harris Millard for sales overhaul

Ailing social media site MySpace hired Media Link, a media and entertainment consulting company, to overhaul its advertising and sales strategy. The deal, first reported in The Wall St. Journal, (the paper and the social site are both owned by News Corp.) calls for Media Link's president Wenda Harris Millard to manage MySpace's day-to-day sales organization on an interim basis, according to an internal memo from Owen Van Natta, CEO of the social site.
 

Women's Health SA launch backed by multichannel push

The launch of a new fitness magazine in South Africa is beginning with an online-only debut on September 9 and will be followed by a direct mail push. Women's Health South Africa, a venture from Rodale Inc and South African publisher Touchline Media, will first appear on newsstands there on October 21.

USPS mail volume down, ad mail takes biggest hit

According to the US Postal Service's Household Diary Study for FY 2008, ad mail has declined 5.24% since 2006. Ad mail volumes for 2008 were at 99.4 billion pieces compared with 104.9 billion in 2006. This is a greater percentage decrease than correspondence mail, which dipped only half a percentage in the same time frame. Transactional mail dropped 2.34% during that period. In 2008, 41.7 billion transaction pieces were mailed.
 

Advent to acquire Charlotte Russe

Teen mall-based retailer Charlotte Russe Holding Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired and taken private by private equity firm Advent International Corp. for approximately $380 million. The price represents a 26.9% premium over the closing cost of Charlotte Russe's shares on August 21, the last trading day before the deal was announced.

Danversbank, a Massachusetts-area savings bank with 17 branches, has added to its three-year-old customer loyalty program with new software from Metavante Corporation. The goal is to encourage use of the Danversbank debit card and other Danversbank offerings.
