Quebecor World declines RR Donnelley's offers

Ailing printing company Quebecor World has rejected RR Donnelley & Sons latest offer to acquire it and, instead, has decided to proceed with a reorganization plan currently underway as a result of bankruptcy proceedings. Quebecor World has said it could emerge from creditor protection by mid-July.
 

Schmidt acquires Solar's card deck business

Schmidt has acquired the cooperative direct mail business of Solar Communications Inc., including Solar's collating assets and paper outer-wrap technology. "The business-to-consumer portion of our business has been growing significantly over the last few years and this acquisition provides a good opportunity to continue that growth and add some capabilities that we didn't have," said Jeff Winter, director of sales and marketing at Schmidt.

AudienceScience is one of the first behavioral targeting companies to start using CoreMetrics' new AdTarget platform. AdTarget syndicates data about Web site visitors across ad networks and products. The information is then integrated into the behavioral targeting platforms of ad serving companies like AudienceScience, allowing them to create personalized display ads in real time for online consumers.
 

Naturally Fresh selects BrightWave for e-mail AOR

Naturally Fresh, a manufacturer of salad dressings and sauces, has selected BrightWave Marketing as its first e-mail marketing agency of record. ALC's Rappaport named CEO of Zumbox

Zumbox, a paperless mail delivery system that launched in February, has enlisted direct marketing veteran Donn Rappaport as its CEO. Rappaport, who has a 30-year history in the list and database marketing industry, will remain chairman of ALC. The two companies also announced a strategic partnership that will support Zumbox's national rollout planned to begin September 2009.
