Companies are increasingly shifting their direct marketing budgets to social media, according to a study released January 21 by marketing services firm Alterian. The survey found that two-thirds (66%) of marketers who took the survey will invest in social media marketing in the next year.
 

Xerox reports $15B in revenues for 2009

Document management and printing and production company Xerox reported fourth-quarter 2009 total revenues of $4.22 billion, down 3% year-over-year from 2008's $4.37 billion, on January 21. The company's full-year 2009 revenue was $15.18 billion, down 14% from $17.61 billion for all of 2008.

Time Inc. acquired StyleFeeder, a shopping search engine, earlier this month in a move to diversify the publisher's revenue stream and take advantage of the growing apparel and accessories market. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
 

Harte-Hanks names Thompson VP of digital

Harte-Hanks named Alan Thompson to the newly created role of VP for digital marketing and solutions this week. He reports to Jeannine Falcone, VP and corporate officer. He is charged with overseeing digital offerings, as well as the integration of traditional services with digital, particularly Harte-Hanks' Postfuture e-mail tool.
 

EMusic names Nadler CMO

Nathan Golia

Digital music club eMusic named Lee Nadler CMO this month. He replaced Kip Morgan, who left the company in December. Nadler reports to Danny Stein, company CEO. His main responsibilities are adding and retaining club members.
