DMA members pitch in for Haiti earthquake relief efforts

The Direct Marketing Association and the DMA Nonprofit Federation have stepped up in the aftermath of this week's Haitian earthquake to help potential donors pinpoint relief organizations. The DMANF compiled a list of DMA nonprofit member organizations involved in relief efforts, along with their contact information, and posted it online at www.nonprofitfederation.org. New organizations will be added on an ongoing basis.
 

Census Bureau debuts integrated campaign to drive up response rate

The US Census Bureau is running a $133 million campaign to promote the 2010 Census from January 18 through April. The effort, created by Draftfcb, includes various digital tactics, such as a microsite, display and search ads, and social media. All of the media ties to the census' direct mail effort, and encourages people to respond to the direct mail census survey.
 

Yahoo schedules updates to search ad platform

As Yahoo awaits approval of a final search deal with Microsoft, it's planning to release two updates to its search marketing platform, which will roll out sometime between January 19 and January 26. The first update is a feature called Importing Campaigns that will let advertisers migrate search campaigns created in Google's platform for use on Yahoo's search platform without the need for a new ad.
 

Direct Brands fills CMO and EVP, business development positions

Direct Brands, parent company of the Book-of-the-Month Club, Columbia House and Doubleday Book Club, has appointed two executives, including a CMO. The company named David Gitow CMO and appointed Alan Katz EVP of business development.
 

CVS launches e-commerce site for Beauty 360

CVS has opened an e-commerce store for its Beauty 360 collection of cosmetic brands. CVS, which announced the e-commerce store on January 14, has made products from the beauty brands under its umbrella available through a shared shopping basket across cvs.com and beauty360.com.
 

RMI awarded Competitor Group lists

Competitor Group, a publisher of athletic magazines, awarded RMI management of its lists on January 14. In addition to the files for each individual publication, RMI is introducing a new-to-market masterfile.
