Neiman Marcus names CMO

Wanda Gierhart has been named SVP and CMO at The Neiman Marcus Group Inc. and will be responsible for marketing, market research, advertising, sales promotion and customer insight activities for Neiman Marcus Stores, Neiman Marcus Direct and Bergdorf Goodman. Gierhart, who will begin in her new role on August 10, will report to Karen Katz, president and CEO of Neiman Marcus Stores and EVP at The Neiman Marcus Group.
 

Q Interactive nabs Postmaster Direct

Q Interactive, a performance-based advertising network, announced on July 7 it acquired Postmaster Direct, a double opt-in permission-based e-mail marketing company, from Return Path. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
 

Qdoba adds mobile to loyalty efforts

A group of 26 Qdoba stores, all owned by Aztec Partners LLC, is expanding its customer loyalty program into the mobile realm with a feature called Qdoba Mobile Rewards. The Mexican chain teamed with mobile loyalty company Tetherball to create the new program. Qdoba Mobile Rewards, which works in conjunction with the chain's existing, "QCard" program, offers rewards, coupons and special notifications to consumers through their phones when they opt in.
 

CMOs slash marketing budgets in 2009, direct mail takes hit

Seventy-one percent of global CMOs reported 2009 marketing budgets are lower than budgets they had in 2008, and more than half (51%) have reported cuts of 20% or more, according to Forrester Research in its "Marketing Budgets Suffer Significant Cuts" report released July 7.
