Google's Tim Armstrong named CEO of AOL

Tim Armstrong, SVP of Google, has been named chairman and CEO of AOL. Randy Falco, who currently holds the title, as well as AOL's COO Ron Grant, will leave the company after a transition period. The announcement was made by chairman and CEO of AOL's parent company Time Warner Inc., Jeff Bewkes. Armstrong will start at AOL on April 7.
 

Acxiom, Acuity Mobile, MGM Mirage partner on mobile messaging

Acxiom and mobile marketing solutions provider Acuity mobile have partnered with MGM Mirage to provide personalized mobile marketing messages to the hotel chain's guests. Guests at six MGM Mirage properties can opt in to mobile marketing programs that deliver personalized, targeted promotions to their mobile phones, said Acxiom.
 

Hulu gets social

Like Netflix before them, online television network Hulu has a new social networking feature that lets friends share their favorite videos. Named Hulu Friends, this new social networking tool sits next to the video content, so that friends can recommend shows to each other. Hulu is using this new service in hopes to expand its network virally.
