E-commerce merchants, catalogers and direct marketers are partnering to fight a recently enacted Colorado law that requires online retailers to notify the state of all purchases made by residents so it can collect sales tax from them.

Intercontinental Hotels rolls out $100 million campaign

Intercontinental Hotels Group launched a $100 million global, integrated campaign April 30 for its Holiday Inn brand, the largest in its history. The "Stay You" campaign is expected to include loyalty program elements, hotel collateral, and digital components, along with print, TV, and outdoor advertising. The effort supports the hotel group's ongoing rebranding that is expected to be completed later this year and has included the overhaul of more than 2,200 hotels to date.

Harte-Hanks reports 8% Q1 revenue decrease

Direct marketing agency Harte-Hanks reported an 8% year-over-year decrease in its first-quarter revenues. The company said it was the smallest quarterly revenue decline since Q3 2008. Total Q1 revenues were $200.2 million. Net income was up more than 50% year-over-year to $10.8 million from $7.1 million in Q1 2009.
