AOL's Coleman replaced by former Google exec after only weeks in office

AOL's Platform-A president Greg Coleman is leaving AOL after only a couple of months in the position, as part of big changes at AOL since Tim Armstrong replaced Randy Falco as chairman/CEO less than a month ago. Coleman's dismissal comes after Time Warner reported a 7% decline in revenues in the first quarter of 2009, which it attributed largely to decreases at the AOL publishing and filmed entertainment segments, offset partially by an increase at the networks segment.
 

Postal service inspector general seeking data on sick time views

Citing $1.4 billion spent last year on sick leave, the US Postal Service Office of Inspector General (OIG) is soliciting comments on what it can do to reduce the number of unscheduled absences among postal employees. The OIG has posted a survey on its blog site, which queries attitudes toward sick time and how it is used, with statements such as "I work hard and sometimes I need to call in sick to take a rest day."

Amazon continues to build Amazon Payments

Amazon.com is promoting a free payment processing offer to businesses and organizations that begin accepting Checkout by Amazon or Amazon Simple Pay as of April 29 as it continues to build its new Amazon Payments division. Amazon Payments services are available for merchants, service providers and nonprofits. Tools include Checkout by Amazon, which offers customers access to their Amazon.com address book and payment information to buy quickly and easily, and also transact using Amazon's 1-Click ordering.
 

UPS adds to international golf sponsorship role

UPS has been named the official supplier of The Open Championship, in a four-year agreement that expands its sponsorship role in international golf tournaments. UPS also has signed agreements with British golf champion Lee Westwood and rising golfer Pablo Larrazábal of Spain to represent the company as global brand ambassadors.
 

Pivotal CRM improves mobile functions

CDC Software, a CRM provider, has started using Vaultus mobiScaler in order to better serve users of its mobile CRM product. MobiScaler encompasses three services: MobiServer, which automates applications and security; MobiClient handset software; and MobiMonitor, a Web-based dashboard for monitoring the system. All three functions will be applied to CDC's Pivotal CRM system.
