Sears acquires social search engine Delver.com

Sears Holdings has acquired social search engine company Delver.com. The deal was completed through Sears' newly formed subsidiary SHC Israel Ltd., which has acquired the assets of Israel-based Delver.com and established a new technology development center in Herzliya, Israel. The terms of the deal were not released.
 

DMA Nonprofit Federation names new executive director

The Nonprofit Federation of the Direct Marketing Association has named Christopher M. Quinn as its executive director. Quinn replaces Senny Boone, who has led the DMANF since 2002, and was appointed SVP, corporate and social responsibility, in September. Boone continued to oversee the Nonprofit Federation's activities until a replacement was found. Quinn will report directly to Boone and will be based in DMA's Washington, DC, office.
 

AOL's Platform-A released in Canada

As a part of its global expansion effort, AOL has launched its online advertising network, Platform-A, in Canada. The new offering will align AOL's existing Canadian advertising operations including Advertising.com and the AOL Canada media network, which includes AOL-owned properties and a number of third-party sites such as Canadian Driver. The Canadian Platform-A comes after releasing Platform-A in Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden, Germany, France and the UK.
 

Valassis to include insert program as select mailer

Media and marketing services company Valassis will expand its reach by delivering its RedPlum FSI package through the mail in select markets. The company said the insert program would see "a distribution shift in select markets via consumers' mailboxes for free in the RedPlum Shared Mail Package along with their grocery and retail circulars."
 

MRI looks to improve weekly readership surveys

Mediamark Research and Intelligence (MRI) has doubled the sample size for its weekly Issue Specific Readership Study and plans to integrate its Starch ad effectiveness tracking into the study in the first half of this year. The Issue Specific Readership Surveys, which launched in June 2007, offers specific, weekly-updated data on exactly who is reading individual issues of 195 consumer magazine titles.
