MTV and MTV Games, a part of Viacom's MTV Networks, have teamed up with Pepsi for a new multichannel campaign that ties music and soda. The new campaign, called "Drink Up, Rock Out," begins on June 2 and runs through the MTV Video Music Awards in September.

New York magazine will raise its subscription prices and cut circulation in an effort to stanch falling revenues and target higher quality readers. With the July 13 issue, the weekly's rate base will drop from 425,000 to 400,000, with many of the cut copies coming from public place circulation.

Amazon.com has updated its digital book reader Kindle for the iPhone, with a new updated application of the App, which launched in March. The updated application features a new portrait/landscape mode, new pinch to zoom images in a book, as well as an option to select alternative background and text colors to improve reading in low light conditions.
 

HP to reposition MarketSplash, pilot DIY design service for printers

HP has eliminated all advertising for its online marketing design services Web site MarketSplash and will shut down the site in September in order to relaunch it as a platform exclusively for HP customers soon after. The company is also looking at testing a program that will enable print service providers to offer design services through MarketSplash.

The lifestyle and personal finance magazine, which Sandow acquired last year, will be direct-mailed to 110,000 high net-worth readers in the top 11 designated market areas (DMAs) in the US.
 

East West magazine to relaunch in September

East West magazine, a lifestyle glossy devoted to the Asian American perspective, will relaunch in September, following a lengthy hiatus. The magazine shuttered in April 2008, after four years of publishing, and its Web site has not been updated since. However, according to editor and publisher, Anita Malik, site traffic has grown since the shuttering — which left the magazine's archives searchable — thus encouraging a relaunch.
