Newsmax adds Alterian data capabilities

Newsmax Media, a print and online publisher, has opted to use Alterian's Data Discovery and Visualization (DDV) tool as part of its e-mail marketing strategy. Alterian already provides Newsmax's e-mail marketing platform, Alterian Messenger, which allows the news company to chart click-through and open rates for its e-mail alerts and newsletters.

Compiled lists and response lists are the traditional "go-to" sources, but more marketers, who demand higher accuracy and sell-through, are seeking "hard-to-find" data sources - particularly as regulation and suppression erode the completeness and availability of existing data sources. There is too much opportunity lost, and waste being generated, by neglecting the integrity and completeness of contact data.

Newmark made his comments at this morning's DMA08 keynote speaker, where he worked the crowd with a remote-control rim shot, explaining that he has "ACS — attempted comedy syndrome."
