USPS announces staff cuts at its headquarters

Amid declining mail volumes and a slow economy, the US Postal Service is eliminating between 220 and 250 jobs at its headquarters. The positions cut are in the agency's Washington, DC, headquarters and "headquarters-related units" such as an engineering center in Virginia, an address management center in Memphis, and various data processing centers, said USPS spokesman Greg Frey.
 

Axe falls on magazines Radar, 02138

Today, in what some media outlets are calling the magazine industry's Black Friday, both Radar and Harvard-centric glossy 02138 are folding. Radar's print publication will shutter, but Radar's Web site, RadarOnline.com, was bought by American Media Inc.com through a partnership with Integrity Multimedia Company.
 

Macmillan appoints Silverpop as e-mail agency

International publishing group Macmillan Publishers Limited has named e-mail service provider Silverpop as its e-mail marketing firm. The company has 10 million registered users in its Palgrave Macmillan and Nature Publishing Group businesses.
