E-commerce and luxury retail sales outperformed all other retail and service categories in March, according to data from MasterCard Advisors' SpendingPulse report. E-commerce was up 18.4% from March 2009.

Although online advertising revenues in the US dipped last year to $22.7 billion, a 3.4% decline from 2008, signs of recovery were evident late in the year, according to the Interactive Advertising Bureau.

ZenithOptimedia upgraded its global advertising spending forecast for this year, 2011 and 2012, predicting total increases of 2.2%, 4.1% and 5.3%, respectively. The agency also predicted that Internet advertising will continue to take a greater portion of ad expenditures for the next three years.
