Airmiles, the rewards program owned by British Airways, is launching a new company devoted to managing white label loyalty programs for other businesses. The Mileage Company, which went public this week, will run the existing Airmiles program and British Airways' frequent flier program, BA Miles. It has yet to announce any other clients, but expects to begin developing or managing other frequent flier and rewards programs within the year.
Commercial real estate developer Majestic Realty Co. is expanding its e-mail program with a new partnership with three technology services companies: Microsoft, ExactTarget and Neudesic. The relationship is being led by Microsoft. Majestic Realty is using Microsoft's Dynamics CRM 4.0 product to create and track campaigns, Exact Target's e-mail platform and Neudesic's implementation consulting services.
CRM provider Maximizer Software appointed Vivek Thomas as its new president late last week. Thomas, who is currently managing director of Maximizer's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) division, will enter his new role on June 1, replacing current president John Caputo. Thomas is expected to bolster the company's mobile CRM efforts and grow its footprint among small and midsize businesses.
Direct mail advertiser Valpak said it would be refranchising at least 15 of its company-run operations over the next two years. The initial focus will be on refranchising the New York City and Houston markets, with Minneapolis, Tampa Bay, Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles to follow.
With a trial set to start next month, Macy's remains locked in battle with the Los Angeles District Attorney's office over the privacy of its customer data. The department store chain was originally targeted by the office on a false advertising charge of selling children's jewelry containing heavy amounts of lead under a "lead nickel free" banner.
