InfoGroup rebrands in bid to unify disparate businesses

Data giant InfoGroup is rebranding its various companies with a common name and logo designed to eliminate confusion in the marketplace over its many direct marketing businesses, according to an internal video message from Bill Fairfield, company CEO. The official rollout occurs January 4, but InfoGroup is introducing the new logo to employees across its businesses and geographies over the next several days.
 

Postal Service's latest consolidation list kinder to cities

The US Postal Service's latest list of branches that it may close is gentler to individual cities than past versions of its roster of possible consolidations. Of the 168 branches still being considered for closure, the highest number in one city — six — is shared by New York and Cincinnati.
 

Definition 6 buys Leach Communications

In its second agency acquisition of the year, interactive marketing firm Definition 6 has acquired Leach Communications, a New York-based PR firm. Definition 6 bought the firm to add an additional PR, strategic communications and social media marketing element to its offerings, said Michael Kogon, founder and CEO of Definition 6.
 

QVC hires Zimmerman for social media marketing

Television and e-commerce retailer QVC has tapped Zimmerman Advertising, an Omnicom agency focused on the retail space, to work on its interactive and social digital components. The hire was effective mid-November. Its initial work is focused on engaging QVC's multimedia shopping community during the holiday shopping season.
 

Hilton, Virgin America partner on loyalty effort

Hilton HHonors, Hilton Hotels' loyalty program, has partnered with airline Virgin America on a program that allows members to earn Virgin rewards points for stays at Hilton-owned hotels. Customers can earn one point in Virgin's Elevate loyalty program for every $2 spent at a Hilton property, or a fixed number of points per night spent at a hotel with the point value varying according to the franchise.
 

Kroger applies grocery rewards to its wireless division

Supermarket chain owner The Kroger Co. announced December 15 that customers of its mobile phone service, i wireless, can convert rewards accumulated when purchasing groceries into wireless airtime. The initiative's goal is to increase loyalty for both of the company's arms.
 

Macromark releases list of debt coaching buyers

Macromark released the Debt To Wealth Buyers list on December 15. They have responded to a radio ad or Internet announcement and purchased Debt To Wealth products, books, audio sets and coaching packages, spending $19.95 to $24.95 via credit card.
