The holiday shopping period is truly the season for retailers to take over the inbox. On a daily basis, I've received e-mails from Amazon, Gap, Bloomingdales, Target, Design Within Reach and J. Crew. But yesterday I got an e-mail that stood out to me in a sea of offers for free shipping and 20% off sweaters.

Goodmail debuts CertifiedDomain whitelist

E-mail delivery firm Goodmail Systems has published its CertifiedDomain list, a whitelist of e-mail senders based on domain reputation. Travelocity, Kmart and The New York Times Co. are among the approximately 500 marketers on the list.

National drugstore chain Walgreens has relaunched its e-commerce site and debuted an iPhone application and mobile-enabled WAP site. The properties were fully rolled out during the first week of December.
 

Ticketmaster to expand user review program in 2010

Ticketmaster will expand its recently launched ratings and reviews platform next year to include its e-mail marketing program, as well as major social media networks. The vendor began its ratings and reviews program this summer, as a part of a two-year strategic overhaul of Ticketmaster.com. The company hired Bazaarvoice earlier this year to manage its online reviews.
 

DirectMail.com acquires Eagle Direct

Multichannel agency and fulfillment house DirectMail.com acquired direct mail and analytics provider Eagle Direct this month. Terms of the deal, finalized December 1, were not disclosed.
 

Gap looks to grow e-mail list with Casting Call contest

Gap has narrowed the list of entrants in its "Casting Call" contest to 20 finalists. The retailer is using the initiative to grow its e-mail database. Consumers can vote online for their favorite baby boy or girl to appear in a Baby Gap ad and a Gap Kids in-store ad. Gap is partnering with DisneyFamily.com on the effort, which mainly targets parents.
